Scaling Telegram Ads means growing a campaign’s budget and reach while keeping the target cost per subscriber, lead or sale. Only scale what already pays off in testing: first expand the audience and the number of ads, then raise bids and budgets gradually while watching whether the cost of results goes up.

When it’s time to scale

The main mistake is increasing the budget of a campaign that hasn’t yet proven its economics. Before scaling, check three conditions:

  • You have a target metric. You know the acceptable cost per subscriber (CPS), lead (CPL) or sale and calculate it for each ad. Formulas are in Telegram Ads metrics.
  • Results are stable. The cost of results stays within target not for a day but for several weeks and across several ads.
  • There is enough data. Conclusions based on a dozen conversions are unreliable: one lucky or unlucky sale shifts the average a lot.

If any of these conditions isn’t met, keep testing creatives and placements instead of increasing spend.

Vertical vs horizontal scaling

Growth in Telegram Ads takes two routes: getting more out of ads that already work, or adding new audiences and new ads.

Approach What you do Pros Risks
Vertical Raise the CPM bid and budget of working ads Fast, no new creatives needed The audience is limited, CPM and frequency rise, the ad burns out
Horizontal Add channels, topics, subscriber segments, countries and new creatives More reach without a sharp price increase More work and testing, new segments may perform worse

In practice you combine them: most growth comes from new audiences, while bids are raised where an ad loses the auction and doesn’t get enough impressions.

How to expand your audience

New channels

Telegram Ads targeting is built around channels, so the most obvious growth path is finding more placements with your audience.

  1. Review statistics for the channels that work and define what they have in common: topic, language, size, content format.
  2. Find similar channels in catalogs and analytics tools: TGStat shows channel statistics, Telemetrio is a catalog with filters. Tool reviews are in our services section.
  3. See where competitors’ ads appear using spy tools such as TelegramAds.com. More in Telegram Ads spy tools.
  4. Split the new channels into groups by topic or size and launch a separate ad for each group so you can see which one works.
  5. Pause groups where the cost of results is above target and move the budget to the best ones.

Don’t mix proven and new channels in one ad: otherwise weak placements will dilute the statistics of strong ones.

A lookalike audience via subscriber targeting

Telegram Ads has no built-in lookalike audience like social networks do. The closest equivalent in a euro account is targeting subscribers of selected channels: the ad is shown to people subscribed to those channels even while they read other channels. This takes you beyond the channels themselves and lets you reach their audience across Telegram.

Two more ways to expand reach:

  • Channel topics and interests. They give more volume but less precision, so test them in separate ads with their own budget.
  • New countries and languages. If your product suits audiences abroad or is localized, adding countries by IP and interface languages noticeably increases reach.

A TON account only allows selecting specific channels, so scaling there comes down almost entirely to expanding the list of placements.

Creative rotation

As the budget grows, the ad is shown to the same people more often, CTR gradually falls and cost per click rises. To compensate:

  • keep several text variants running for each segment and add new ones regularly;
  • track each ad’s CTR over time: a steady decline is a signal to replace the text;
  • test different angles, not just wording: benefit, pain point, example, format;
  • factor in the cost of media: according to Kokoc as of June 2026, an image raises CPM by about 50% and video by about 70% with topic targeting, and by 80% and 100% with channel targeting; custom emoji in the text add about 20% to the bid.

The bigger the budget, the more important it is to keep a reserve of ready texts that have already passed moderation.

Bid and budget rules

Sharp increases in bids or budgets break the economics faster than anything else. A few rules help keep them under control:

  1. Raise bids gradually and only for ads that don’t get enough impressions. After each step, let the ad run and compare the cost of results.
  2. Separate budgets for proven combinations and tests so experiments don’t eat into the money of working ads.
  3. Cap spending with the ad’s total budget and, where available, a daily limit and an ad schedule.
  4. Remember the minimum bid: about €0.7–1 in a euro account for most topics, 0.1 TON in a TON account, 50 Stars in a Stars account.
  5. Watch your reseller balance. If the money runs out, impressions stop, and topping up through a reseller can take time.

How the auction works and how to choose a starting bid is covered in the Telegram Ads auction and bids.

Tools for bulk launches

Once you have dozens of ads, manual work in the ad account takes a lot of time. These services reviewed on our site can help:

Service How it helps with scaling
G.Ads Chrome extension for promote.telegram.org: bulk actions on ads
Adstat.pro Automation and a bidder that adjusts bids every 10 minutes
TgBooster Analytics, statistics import, bidder
TGStat, Telemetrio Finding and analyzing channels to expand your placement list

Automation doesn’t replace analysis: a bidder manages bids, but deciding which segments to scale is still up to you.

When to stop

Every niche has a ceiling, and it’s important to notice it in time. Signs that it’s time to stop scaling or roll back:

  • the cost of results stays above target after several rounds of bid and creative changes;
  • new channels and segments perform noticeably worse than proven ones;
  • CTR falls across all ads, even new ones, meaning the audience is tired of the offer;
  • sales grow more slowly than spend, even though subscribers and leads keep coming.

In that case, return the budget to the level where the economics worked and look for growth in the product, the funnel or a new audience. Common pitfalls are listed in Telegram Ads mistakes.

FAQ

Does Telegram Ads have lookalike audiences?

There is no built-in lookalike feature. The closest equivalent in a euro account is targeting subscribers of selected channels: the ad reaches them across Telegram, not only inside those channels.

How much can I raise a bid at once?

There is no official recommendation on step size. It’s safer to raise bids in small steps, let the ad run and compare the cost of results, not just the number of impressions.

Is it better to raise the budget or add channels?

Most growth usually comes from new channels and segments: a single ad has a limited audience and burns out faster as the budget grows. Raising the bid makes sense where the ad doesn’t get enough impressions.

How do I know a creative has burned out?

Track the ad’s CTR over time. If it keeps falling while cost per click rises with the same bid and audience, it’s time to update or replace the text.

Which services help launch many ads?

For bulk actions in the ad account there’s the G.Ads extension; for automatic bid management there are the Adstat.pro and TgBooster bidders. TGStat and Telemetrio are handy for finding channels to expand into.

Can I scale in a TON account?

Yes, but only by adding channels: a TON account only offers targeting by specific channels and bots. Targeting by subscribers, topics and countries requires a euro account through a reseller.
